Why a dedicated ear wax clinic matters
Ear Wax Co didn't start as a business idea. It started as a frustration. For 18 years our founders, an audiologist and an audiometrist, worked in hearing healthcare, much of it alongside ENT specialists. They kept hitting the same wall: nowhere to send people for fast, expert, dedicated ear wax removal. So they built one.
When a clinic does this all day, every day, you get sharper clinical judgement and the experience to handle ears that aren't textbook: narrow or bendy canals, very hard or impacted wax, hearing aid wearers, ears with a history. And when something needs an ENT, we recognise it and point you the right way.
Our standard of care
-
Microsuction under magnification: we see exactly what we're doing the whole time.
-
A clinical assessment, not just a clean: every visit includes an exam of the canal and eardrum.
-
Honest advice: if there's no wax, or you'd be better seen by an ENT, we'll tell you.
18 years
in hearing healthcare, behind every appointment.
ENT-connected
we know when an ear needs a specialist, and where to send it.
How microsuction ear wax removal works
Microsuction is a precise, dry way to remove ear wax. Using magnification to see clearly into the canal, your clinician uses gentle, low-pressure suction (think a very fine, soft vacuum) with fine instruments where needed, watching the whole time. Because nothing is flushed into your ear, it avoids the mess and risks of syringing or irrigation. It's the method ENT specialists tend to prefer.
Why it's the better method
It's dry: no water in the canal, so less infection risk and no soggy aftermath.
You're watched the whole time: a clear, magnified view throughout.
It's gentle: most people find it comfortable, even oddly satisfying.
It suits difficult ears: hard or impacted wax and narrow canals are all manageable.
What to expect
- 1
A quick history: your symptoms and ear health.
- 2
An examination: canal and eardrum under magnification, checking removal is actually needed.
- 3
The removal: gentle microsuction and fine instruments as required.
- 4
A check and a chat: we confirm the ear's clear and give simple advice.
Most appointments take 15 to 30 minutes.
What microsuction is not: no ear candling (no evidence it works, burn risk) and no DIY cotton buds (they push wax deeper). We avoid old-style syringing too.
Simple, transparent pricing
You'll always know what you're paying before you book. Our fee covers a full clinical exam of your ears, not just the removal, so even if there's nothing to remove you've had an expert assessment.
